Cancellation & Amendment Policy

What happens if your plans change after you book — what the cruise line charges, what we charge, and how to give yourself the most flexibility.

Last updated: 1 August 2026

1. Nothing is payable until you confirm

Sending an enquiry through this website costs nothing and commits you to nothing. There is no cancellation charge on an enquiry or a quotation, because neither creates a booking. This policy applies only once a booking has been confirmed by the operator and a deposit paid.

2. Touris charges no fees

We do not charge an amendment fee, a cancellation fee, an admin fee or a service fee. Any charge you face on a cancellation or change comes from the operating cruise line under its own booking conditions, and we pass it on at cost. We will always show you the operator’s figure before you authorise anything.

3. Cancelling a confirmed booking

Cancellation charges are set by the cruise line and scale with how close to departure you cancel. They vary by operator, fare type and voyage length, but the pattern is consistent:

Typical cruise line cancellation charge scale
When you cancel Typical charge
More than 120 days before departure Deposit only (typically 10–20% of the fare)
119 – 90 days 25% of the total fare
89 – 60 days 50% of the total fare
59 – 30 days 75% of the total fare
29 days or fewer, or no-show 100% of the total fare

This table is illustrative. Longer voyages, world cruise segments, suites and heavily discounted promotional fares frequently carry stricter scales — some non-refundable from the moment of deposit. The scale that governs your booking is the one in the operator’s conditions supplied with your confirmation, and we will draw your attention to it in writing before you pay a deposit.

4. Amendments before departure

Name changes and corrections

A spelling correction is usually free if caught early. Replacing one passenger with another is treated by most lines as a partial cancellation and rebooking, and is charged accordingly. Within 30 days of departure many operators refuse name changes entirely. Give us the exact passport spelling at booking and this never arises.

Changing dates or ship

Treated as a cancellation and a new booking by almost every operator, so the scale above applies. A small number of lines allow one free date change outside a stated window; we will tell you at quotation whether yours does.

Cabin upgrades

Usually possible at any time subject to availability, and normally charged only at the fare difference. Worth asking about — upgrade pricing often falls as departure approaches and cabins go unsold.

Adding or removing a passenger

Adding a third or fourth guest to an existing cabin is generally straightforward. Removing one can increase the remaining passengers’ fares, because cruise pricing assumes double occupancy and a single occupant may be charged a supplement.

5. Cancellation by the cruise line

If the operator cancels the sailing, its conditions govern the remedy — usually a full refund or an alternative sailing with a future cruise credit. We will present the options to you and handle the paperwork. We do not retain any part of a refund due to you.

6. Itinerary changes

Operators reserve the right to change ports of call, and sometimes do so at short notice for weather, mechanical, medical or geopolitical reasons. A missed port is not normally grounds for cancellation without charge, and compensation, where offered at all, is at the operator’s discretion. Cruise contracts are unusually permissive on this point, and it is worth understanding before you book a sailing for one specific port.

7. Travel insurance

Insurance is what turns a cancellation charge into a claim. Arrange cover at the point of booking, not before departure — cancellation cover only responds to events after the policy starts, so a policy bought late will not cover a change of circumstances that arose in between. Check that it covers medical treatment and repatriation at sea specifically, as standard travel policies sometimes do not.

8. How to cancel or amend

Call your consultant directly on 833-995-7702, or email info@touris.net quoting your booking reference. Requests are actioned during opening hours (Mon-Fri 9am-8pm ET · Sat-Sun 10am-6pm ET); the charge that applies is the one in force when we are able to submit the request to the operator, so call rather than email if you are close to a charge threshold.

9. Refunds

Refunds are issued by the operator to the original payment method. Most take 14 to 30 days, though some lines have historically been slower. We will chase on your behalf and keep you updated.

This policy sits alongside our Terms & Conditions and the operating cruise line’s own booking conditions. Where they conflict, the operator’s conditions govern your cruise contract.
